QUEEN’S PARK – NDP MPP Chandra Pasma (Ottawa West Nepean) will introduce Bill 23, the Protecting Seniors in Care Homes Act, which she will be bringing forward for debate on April 15th in the Legislature.
“This bill aims to protect seniors across Ontario from exploitation and fee gouging in care homes,” said MPP Pasma. “For too long, companies have been able to raise the cost of care whenever they want by as much as they, causing extreme stress for seniors, pushing them out of their homes, taking away their communities, and leaving them worried about the money running out before they die.
“These increases, which are being made to increase corporate profits, threaten the dignity and security of seniors’ retirements and hold their homes hostage in the middle of an affordability crisis. We are also seeing predatory practices, like low promotional rates that spike dramatically after a short period. If we truly care about our seniors, all MPPs should support this bill.”
We're so happy to have you on the team. We'll be in touch soon.
